Colorado
River
Coursing more than a thousand miles
from the Rockies to the Sea of Cortez,
the mighty Colorado River provides
irrigation, public water and hydroelectric
power to parts of California, Nevada
and Arizona. The river also offers
a wide spectrum of recreational activities.
Enjoy water skiing, jet skiing and
fishing, as well as dinner cruises
and scenic tours aboard paddlewheel
steamship replicas and tour boats.
Lake
Mohave/Lake Mead National Recreation
Area
Created by nearby Davis Dam, Lake
Mohave's 200 miles of shoreline is
etched with hundreds of coves and
secluded areas. The Lake is rich
in wildlife and offers an abundance
of recreational opportunities, such
as fishing, boating, camping and
water skiing. The park rangers offer
free Interpretive Programs from February
through April including popular natural
and human history programs, hikes,
and campfires. Call the Ranger Station
at (928) 754-3272 from 8 a.m. to
4 p.m. daily for more information.
Keepers
of the Wild - (928) 767-4004
Keepers of the Wild is a non-profit
sanctuary deeply dedicated to the
rescuing of endangered species. The
preservation and protection of these
wonderful, exotic animals is paramount
in our hearts and minds. Providing
a clean, safe and loving environment
for over 100 exotic animals, including
lions, tigers, leopards, jaguars,
cougars, wolves and other wonderful
animals. Summer Season (April 6 -
October 26) are 11:00 am to 5:00
pm. We are located at Mile Marker
27 on North Highway 93, 27 miles
south of Hoover Dam, on the Arizona
side, and 45 miles North of Kingman.
Parker
Dam
Located approximately 88 miles south
of Laughlin, Parker Dam is known
as the world's deepest dam, with
65 percent of its structural height
located underwater. Apart from supplying
water to Los Angeles and San Diego,
the dam is perhaps best known for
creating picturesque Lake Havasu.
Hoover
Dam and Lake Mead
Few man-made sights are more breathtaking
than massive Hoover Dam. Soaring
more than 70 stories (726 feet) from
the bottom of Black Canyon, about
75 miles north of Laughlin, it is
the highest dam in the United States.
Lake Mead, the country's largest
man-made lake, provides 550 miles
of varied and unsurpassed outdoor
activities throughout the Lake Mead
National Recreation area.
Lake
Havasu/ London Bridge
Lake Havasu stretches northward for
45 miles behind Parker Dam. Boating,
fishing and an array of watersports
are available. Straddling the Lake
is the famous London Bridge. Brought
over brick-by-brick from England
and reassembled in 1971, it forms
the central focus for an English
Village with themed shops and restaurants.
Katherine
Landing
Located nine miles north of Laughlin
at Lake Mohave, Katherine Landing
features RV facilities, boat rentals,
boat slips, launch ramp, picnic area,
marina, restaurant and other resort

Katherine
Mine
The remnant of a booming 19th-century
gold mine, Katherine Mine is located
a short distance from the shores
of Lake Mohave.
Christmas
Tree Pass and Grapevine Canyon
Located about 7 miles west of Davis
Dam on Highway 163, this area is
ideal for hiking, camping, photography
and exploring. The area boasts of
a number of fascinating Indian petroglyphs
that adorn the canyon's sheer cliff
walls.
Oatman
Once a thriving mining community,
Oatman, Arizona, takes visitors back
to the days of the Old West with
weekend cowboy gunfights and showdowns
in the middle of town. Wild burros
roam the streets of this popular
setting for many movies and TV Westerns.
Oatman's most famous visitors were
Clark Gable and Carol Lombard who
stayed there briefly during their
well-publicized "elopement"
in the 1930s.
Gold
Road Mine Tour
A unique walking tour of a gold mine
located 2.5 miles north of Oatman,
Arizona. The 45-minute regular daily
tour is guided and includes a history
of the mine as well as mining in
general. It is "user friendly"
for the physically challenged. Visitors
can actually see gold as it appears
in the rock within the mine. Tours
given every day 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
except Christmas and New Year's Day.
An Extended Tour is also available.

an authentic one hour, narrated historical
stage coach ride on a portion of
the old Beale Trail through the ghost
town of Gold Road. $25 per person
/ half price for children 3-12. Reservations
required; 20% cancellation fee if
less than 24 hours. Open daily from
October 15 to April 15.

rides through the desert and hills
of the Black Mountains. Trail rides
